Libs rant about “Green energy”. Do they have a CLUE how many wind farms and solar panels it would take to?
Question by Jimmbbo: Libs rant about “Green energy”. Do they have a CLUE how many wind farms and solar panels it would take to?
replace coal, much less coal and oil???
Never mind that solar works ONLY when the sun shines and wind turbines only work when the WIND blows, and that there is NO way to effectively store large amounts of electricity….

actually, what is jsut as funny is they cry for decades about wind power, then set up all sorts of wind farms, and then cry that the brown eagles are being killed by the millions from being hit by, you guessed it, wind mills…
this is almost as funy as crying about carbon emmisions after forcing us to put catalitic converters in cars in the 70’s to convert co int oco2 and now co2 is the big bad wolf.
nice knee jerk reaction from the left.
also, just as funny is using electricity which come s from burning fossil fuels (coal is 50% of our electricity right now) to power electric/hybrid cars…

No, they don’t.
Technology is getting better, and wind and sun farms are only put in places that have lots of those attributes. It’s not perfect yet and not a complete solution, but it is important.
I’m not a fan of the “can’t win, so don’t try” mentality.
Do not try to confuse a liberal with facts, especially the ones with central heat, A/C and a Hummer.
It’s funny. They all drive “hybrid” cars made in plants that belch black smoke out of them on the double.
I don’t guess you’d consider building a metro system, crushing your car, using a bicycle, and burning candles – like I do and have?
Yeah, you got it coming and going. Thinking you just have it coming is one-eyed, Cyclops.
@O’Ryan – you think I live in a cave? Read the above, Aristotle, and be grateful – what with your oily beaches.
maybe thats why liberals in NY opposed building wind farms off the cost of cap cod. Or why CA liberal opposed solar farms in the desert waste lands.
Do you have a clue what will happen if we do not try?
Btw, wind farms are excellent for making hydrogen fuel cells. FYI, fuel cells are effective ways to store energy.
No. analyzing is not taught in liberal arts.
Of course they don’t know!
Liberals spit out the same rhetoric day after day about how the coal companies and oil companies are conspiring with the government to ensure that no alternative fuels are ever going to be used in the US.
The truth is that they are coming up with nothing to replace oil and coal that is efficient.
In a perfect world, we would all have solar power panels that are invisible and drive cars that run off of air. However, this is unrealistic.
LOL @ Pluto C. Rat who says that as he is typing on his computer. What a joke!
Common sense dictates that we will never be entirely dependent upon alternative energy sources. It also dictates that we do not have an infinite supply of fossil fuels. At our current rate of demand, we will eventually find ourselves in a shortage situation. Nobody should want to see that. For me it’s not so much a matter of being ‘green’ and saving the planet. I’m not that arrogant. I just think we do need to work toward finding an affordable happy medium between ‘green’ technology and fossil fuels. For example, I would install solar panels in a heartbeat if it was affordable to do so and I knew my power bill would all but disappear. That would both save on fossil fuels and provide me with cheap energy. It’s something that people on all sides of the political spectrum should be willing to rally around, even if the motivation isn’t the same for all.
I am not a liberal, but you could power the entire United States on a grid of solar panels in the Arizona desert roughly 100 miles by 100 miles. That is a huge grid, but it can be done.
As for storing electricity effectively, you can do many things. One is to use the electricity surplus to break water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen, then when the electricity is needed to feed the grid, you could “cold burn” the hydrogen back into water and harvest the released energy.
We cannot stop burning coal anytime soon. Carter assured that when he ended the nuclea energy program after NOBODY was killed at 3 Mile Island. But we do need to start working on other things, not just to be “green” but also to continue a high quality of life when the coal runs out.
Libs don’t have a clue about anything that doesn’t put money in their outstretched hands as in “welfare”
You seem to expect liberals to have a modicum of common sense, but that’s a term they neither know or have any concept of.
I have seen them attack both and usually for the most stupid of reasons.
On average a wind generator kills one bird per year. Cats in Minnesota kill some 300,000.
And yes we know but if you start whittling away where we can with green power it will cut our consumption enough to get us off of Middle Eastern oil. Canada is our #1 supplier.
The problem with Republicans is they have no imagination or patience. Or ability to reason or understand consequences of fossil fuel. They are blowing up mountains in coal rich area, no concern for the damage, no feelings of remorse. Just show me the money no matter what happens kind of life forms.
