Solar energy?
I am looking for a system which will act as a blind on a window but with the same abilities ie. adjust the shutter to vary the light.
I am keen to block the sun from the back of my house but do not want to block all the light.
This will serve two purposes; reduce heat and thus the expenditure of power on devices to cool the property/ create energy for perhaps the heating of water.
I am working on the principle that a lot of energy is wasted in summer on fans and air conditioning systems and such blinds would have a double whammy on such useage.
Any ideas?
Mike. You will find its too expensive as I have the patent in place.
May your entrails be used to feed the neady.

First, hook a solar module on a hinge at the top of the window on the out side of the house. Then put adjustable legs on the module about mid way so you can adjust it down in the summer to block the sun from comming in. Then you can lift it in the winter too allow the suns heat in.
Second, Build you a flat shelf looking board in what ever shape that looks good and mount it on the bottom of the window. Paint it white or bright yellow.. Or what ever long as it is bright and can reflect the light into the house to light the room.
This way the solar module blocks the heat of the sun and makes electric. The bright painted board lights up the room.
This idea is in use at the Florida Soar Energy Center so you could in no way get the rights to it but could put it on your home.
thank you, your idea has now been stolen and i’m off to the patent office rubbing my hands together with glee.
EDIT – We’ll see, patents are 1 thing, inventions are another, technically its the 1st person to invent that wins it.
There may already be flexible roll out solar PV awnings that will serve your purpose. But you aren’t gonna like the price!
$800 is "affordable solar"!?!?
use tinted film to prevent the heat coming in,n in winter, film can help to prvent cold outside, this film called sun guard film,us made, very good,i got it all around my window at my house,
You have several options.
1. Window films. Darker films block more light but try to stop the heat after it has entered the house. Low E films block less light, while still stopping heat.
2. Solar screens. These are screens which cover your window on the outside, similar to your existing insect screens, but are more solid, so they block more heat and more light. They are better than film in that they block the rays before they enter the window.
3. Awnings. These hang over and shade the window. They block the sun more completely, but allow good indirect light and an unobstructed view. Some can be raised in winter so you get the benefit of the heat when you need it, block it when you don’t. Unfortunately, these are pretty expensive.
4. Vegetation. Strategic planting of trees and shrubs as part of your landscape can also shade the window. Properly located plants of the right type can screen the sun from the window, while still allowing indirect light and view. Also, with proper placement and/or use of desiduous plants, you can allow the sun in in winter. In addition, plants transpire, cooling the area. Obviously, this approach may take several months to several years, but it ultimately may be the best solution. Add beauty to your home, while cooling the area and blocking the sunlight when and where needed. As a bonus, plants store carbon dioxide and absorb other pollutants, making them good for the environment.

Sorry I don’t have any idea about it, but this question merits to be starred! A star for you.
